There’s one thing the Marvel’s Avengers fandom cannot stop talking about, and it has lots to do with Doctor Strange. Benedict Cumberbatch teases of what fans can expect from Avengers: Infinity War.
Marking its 10th anniversary of the MCU, Marvel Studios is ready to set release the most ambitious venture yet in the upcoming future ensemble flick.
Being one of the newest heroes in the MCU, Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will make an appearance in the film. Debuting just last year in his own standalone movie, the new Sorcerer Supreme is now already one of the pivotal characters in the Infinity War movie. As he possesses the Time Gem — one of those six Infinity Stones that Thanos endeavors to collect. We’ve always assumed that the sorcerers have bigger fish to fry.
As one of the holders to one of the powerful artifacts, this also makes Strange very susceptible to danger. As to the supervillain and his cohort would obviously go for him. (Or Paul Bettany’s Vision who has the Mind Stone in his forehead).
The star also opened up about the sequel during a recent press stop. And Cumberbatch had only good things to say about the comming Avengers film. The actor also told the site a few vague details about the film. But Marvel fans are taking anything what they can get.
“It’s ten years coming,” It’s just a huge, huge, huge amount of work. Huge amount of storylines and it’s all sort of pointing to this confrontation,” he continued. “It’s amazing to part of it even though I’m late to the party, it’s very cool one to be part of it.
Understandably, the actor could not reveal anything much specific about the movie. It is no secret that Marvel Studios went to very great lengths. To make sure that they prevent any possible leaks that even the cast did not receive full scripts.
Doctor Strange though entered the franchise last year with his standalone, but the sorcerer has kept isolated from the Avengers team. Marvel’s next film will bring him into the mighty team. And the studio’s president perfectly explained about why sorcerers have stayed away from Iron Man’s squad until now.
Speaking to Collider, Kevin Feige said heroes like Doctor Strange had bigger issues to worry about than what the Avengers were fighting.
“There are people inhabiting the same world that are stopping buildings from falling down, aliens from doing this, robots from doing that. These people in this movie are stopping inter-dimensional forces from wiping out all of reality,” the producer said.
One thing is for sure, though, stakes are definitely at their peak, with some of the lives of our much favorite heroes on the line.
Details about Doctor Strange’s bit in Avengers: Infinity War are being kept low-key. But fans are now ready to see the hero interact with other MCU icons. Doctor Strange is expected to meet up with Thor and Loki in Thor: Ragnarok comming this year. So audiences have that interaction to look forward to.
